From then until now...
Making garments has been a passion of mine ever since my childhood when my granny taught me to make clothes for my dolls.
From my days as a young girl in Latvia dreaming of a life in fashion to now, I have gained over 13 years of experience in the fashion industry.
In 2003 I moved to London to study Fashion Design at Kensington and College and courses at Central St Martins. I then worked for several luxury and high-street brands gaining valuable in-depth experience, which gave me the springboard to set up my very own fashion label in 2011.
During this time, I became increasingly aware that aside from my creative streak and my love of tailoring, what really enthused me and where my strengths lied, was in the technical side of making a garment; particularly pattern-cutting and the challenges that come with being able to create a fully-functional well-fitting 3D garment from a 2D drawing.
With my technical skill-set and the need for the extra cash, I soon found myself making patterns, toiles and samples for other designers and fashion brands, as well as custom-made outfits for private clients. With a string of satisfied customers, word-of-mouth spread fast, and before I knew it I was working around the clock as a pattern-cutter/ seamstress/tailor/ problem-solver. That is when I realised that a new door had been opened for me and, well... I have never been one to look back.
My skill-set is very broad and covers anything from presentation, technical drawings and costing to pattern cutting, sample-making and even photo-shoots (I have had the privilege of working on a number of exciting projects with very talented and inspirational photographers)
I have worked on all sorts of commissions, including wedding dresses, evening wear, sportswear, children's wear and uniforms for bars and restaurants.
I love to diversify and to problem-solve and especially keep myself busy and challenged. So, should you have any interesting project in mind, do feel free to get in touch!
